Beginning this fall the Salem Academy Athletic Department and its athletes will participate in the "Spirit of a Champion" Program. This program, presented by the Oregon Athletic Director Association and sponsored by Bi-Mart, focuses on the development of positive character in athletes. A vital component of the "Spirit of a Champion" Program is the involvement of parents. Throughout the 2009-10 school year Salem Academy parents will be encouraged to attend a special viewings of “The Role of Parents in Athletics” with Bruce Brown. With over 30 years of coaching experience Bruce Brown, NAIA Special Presenter, delivers a message to parents from the perspective of an athlete. This video discusses what a parent can do, concerning their children, to allow them to grow and perform to the best of their ability. These showings will take place in the upper chapel area located in the gymnasium. We hope that every parent who has a son or daughter playing for the Crusaders this year will make a point to come and hear what Bruce Brown has to offer parents.
